About my Art

Over the years I have taken a lot of artistic inspiration from the media I enjoy. I’ve watched anime for years, and have chewed through several cartoon series. All of these different sources have had great impacts on my art style.

My biggest inspiration, however, was an old friend from high school. She had an amazing cast of characters she has come up with and great storyline. Her art was practiced and beautiful. I wasn’t on the internet much as a kid, so she really introduced me to the concept of having your own characters and storylines.

My want to create characters of my own, and to tell my own stories, is what drove me to put active effort into teaching myself how to draw. I worked on learning anatomy, and honing my eye for art. To do this I challenged myself to draw at least two full characters every day for a year (and I almost sprained my wrist doing it). By the end of it, I was by no means a brilliant artist, but I had gained confidence in my skill, and enough basic knowledge to grow from there. I will forever be grateful to that friend for inspiring me to practice, for helping me find my love for art.

Fun Facts

I like watching both anime and cartoons. My favorite anime at the moment are Bungo Stray Dogs and One Piece.

I really like sour things, and aside from drawing, reading, and watching my favorite shows, I also love hiking and listening to music.

Some of my favorite musicians/bands are Autoheart, Noah Kahan, Mitski, Lana Del Ray, and The Oh Hellos.

Some of my favorite artists are Mihiro00122 (on Instagram), I’ve followed them for years, and their work is always stunning, and Simon Stalenhag, whose work I found more recently, but I was completely enamored with.
